{"id":106,"date":"2007-12-02T11:14:49","date_gmt":"2007-12-02T16:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.criplomats.com\/?p=106"},"modified":"2014-12-29T20:37:09","modified_gmt":"2014-12-30T02:37:09","slug":"art-art-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.criplomats.com\/?p=106","title":{"rendered":"Art, art, art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Sunday I went to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nga.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Gallery of Art <\/a>to see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nga.gov\/exhibitions\/hopperinfo.shtm\" target=\"_blank\">Edward Hopper <\/a>exhibit &#8211; it was fantastic. I also saw a great <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nga.gov\/exhibitions\/snapshotinfo.shtm\" target=\"_blank\">photography exhibit <\/a>that reminded me of Mike Bobo &#8211; lots of old, fun photographs. John was a little under the weather, so hopefully I can get him back to see some of the other incredible paintings at the museum. Of course, they also have several works by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nga.gov\/cgi-bin\/pinfo?Object=105872+0+none\" target=\"_blank\">Georgia O&#8217;Keefe<\/a>, my favorite artist.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I went to the <a href=\"http:\/\/americanart.si.edu\/index3.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">National Portrait Gallery\/American Art Museum <\/a>to see a Mexican film. The film was so-so, but it was a good reason to go to the museum. I didn&#8217;t have a lot of time, but did get a chance to take a very quick walk-through of their folk art wing, where they have a <a href=\"http:\/\/americanart.si.edu\/search\/search_artworks1.cfm?StartRow=1&amp;LastName=finster&amp;FirstName=&amp;Title=&amp;Keyword=&amp;Accession=&amp;query=artworks&amp;dosearch=Go&amp;db=all&amp;format=short\" target=\"_blank\">Howard Finster <\/a>(the guy from Georgia who did some of the Talking Heads&#8217; album covers). I&#8217;ll definitely go back there to spend more time.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve had a busy weekend, starting with happy hour on Thursday. Friday night we took a friend from class with us to see a magic\/comedy show that was very entertaining, and last night, we went to see the Broadway touring production of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avenueq.com\/broadway\/se2.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Avenue Q<\/a> with several classmates (very funny!). On the way home, we stopped at a going-away party for a friend getting ready to leave for Mexico City, so it ended up being a late night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Sunday I went to the National Gallery of Art to see the Edward Hopper exhibit &#8211; it was fantastic.
