On Friday, Mary flew in from Little Rock and Ander drove up from southern Virginia (where he&#8217;s been working on a state senate campaign). Saturday we drove through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/m\/fsi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Foreign Service campus<\/a>, went to eat a great brunch at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kramers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kramerbooks<\/a>, then hit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.easternmarketdc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eastern Market<\/a>. We also walked past the State Department building in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Foggy_Bottom\" target=\"_blank\">Foggy Bottom<\/a>, and visited the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasonline.org\/site\/PageServer?pagename=ABOUT_building_einstein_memorial\" target=\"_blank\">Einstein statute<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/linc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lincoln Memorial <\/a>and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/vive\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vietnam Memorial <\/a>&#8211; lots and lots of walking! We were pooped at the end of the day, but mustered the energy to have a great meal at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/restaurantreviews\/1023.html\" target=\"_blank\">Huong Viet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the week has been pretty low-key &#8211; mostly just studying Spanish (John&#8217;s still in his HR classes). I found a great Vietnamese restaurant that just serves <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pho\" target=\"_blank\">soup <\/a>&#8211; perfect for the chilly nights we&#8217;ve been having here.<\/p>\n<p>Mary and Ander are at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spymuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Spy Museum <\/a>this morning &#8211; we&#8217;ll hook up with them later in the day.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"100_2928.JPG\" href=\"http:\/\/www.criplomats.com\/wp-content\/100_2928.JPG\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.criplomats.com\/wp-content\/100_2928.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-211\" title=\"100_2928\" src=\"http:\/\/www.criplomats.com\/wp-content\/100_2928-300x226.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time out for a drink at Clyde&#8217;s We&#8217;re so happy to have Mary and Alexander visiting us this weekend!
