Saturday I got the message above from an embassy employee in Monrovia \u2014 several of the local staff there called me \u201cboss lady.\u201d Another local staff in Mexico used to call me \u201clady boss.\u201d I miss being someone\u2019s boss sometimes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started out with a full plate this week but it got upended mid-week when I tested positive for covid. Ugh. For someone who stays home almost all the time, I\u2019m baffled how I managed to pick it up! (Fortunately John didn\u2019t catch it.) That put the kibosh on attending the embassy\u2019s 4th of July reception Thursday night, and I was exiled upstairs while embassy local staff and Americans spent Friday on our lawn for their own party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the upside, Wimbledon is on television! I\u2019ve spent all week enjoying the first week matches guilt free, since I haven\u2019t felt like doing anything else (this iteration of covid really knocked me back). The matches have been spectacular! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I finished reading \u201cThe Galapagos: A Natural History\u201d by Henry Nicholas \u2014 it was a great read. I\u2019ve continued to enjoy the very weird \u201cDTF St Louis\u201d on TV. John and I laughed at the silliness of \u201cThe Boroughs\u201d and we\u2019re about to finish the last season of \u201cHacks.\u201d (I wish \u201cHacks\u201d would get funnier like the first couple of seasons but we\u2019re kind of committed to finishing at this point!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll post some photos of \u201cAction John\u201d from the 4th of July party below \u2014 I\u2019m very proud of him!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
